The Blog of Blogs

Okay, I'd admit I never gave blogs much thought and when I was asked to create a blog, my perspective of blogging changed. Blogs are actually good tools for gaining information as people offer their first hand experiences of subject matter ranging from good (or bad) books, teachers, courses, any products, services, and employers. I'm not saying reading blogs will make a decision for someone, but the information can certainly be used to weigh the pros and cons. So...happy blogging, Ya'll.

Guadalajara

I believe UALR sponsors the spring break Guadalajara trip every semester. I think it is limited to business students and I am not sure of the required classification, but the cost is only $1600, which includes transporation, airfare, and hotel accomodations. In addition to that value, the trip (which is actually a three credit hour course) can be substituted for any of the additional hours under the major requirementssection. The class meets only five times before the trip and once afterwards. A journal must be kept to log events and observations according to the instructor's specifications. Dr. Roderick has gone on this trip for the last 15 years and is very knowledgeable about the area, the language, the culture, and the business networking abroad. I am just too excited as I've registered to the class last week (IBUS 4316), paid my $300 deposit, got my baby sitter arranged (yes, four months out) and passport in hand. I'm ready to go. If you are interested, contact Dr. Roderick or Dr. Felan in the business building for more details. They've had meetings, but I wasn't able to attend either, so I apologize if I have not covered information that is important to you. My concerns were sleeping arrangements and accomodations and if we must stay with the group the entire time during our stay. There is is two per room unless you want to pay a little extra for your own room (an anemity I will spring for) and group settings are recommended but not mandatory. Each should practice safety. Remember the Holloway Girl? I forgot the name of the hotel, but when I asked, I immediately Googled it and am pleased with the 4-star Latin American establishment. The only thing left is how I will wear my hair, because my luggage is already packed! Oh, remember to pack light. Luggage rates have changed drastically and you must leave room for SHOPPING!

Sharing

You have to be wary of who you share your accomplishments with, because not everyone shares in your triumphs. When you experience the differences of attitudes once you've shared your triumph, instead of feeling defeated, depleted, and discouraged, instead make a mental note that that person just cannot accept that part of you...whether at that time or ever. Every idea is not for every person, so don't take it personal. Besides, something may have been going on with them that kept them from receiving your good news in the manner you've have hoped. We must become true friends to ourselves and our creator and exalt where we can be uplifted. Now can't you trust that you will always be happy for your accomplishments? Befriend yourself. Trust GOD.
